Week 26- Feliz Navidad!

Hola Everyone!

Wow what a busy week it has been! I´m going to start with our crazy day we had saturday! Well we had a baptism but our bishop doesnt have the bap. font keys so at 7 in the morning we had to go to the house of the other wards bishop, well the theme of the day is that no one was answering their phones! so we waited out there for 30 minutes then he miraculously opened the door! And we got the keys.

Well then we had an activity where we went to the terminal as a zone and contacted 150  people every companionship to had out all of the "He is the Gift" Cards. Well that was fun. I not only got sunburnt but i also got 2 marriage proposals from police men haha so its good to know that if things dont work out for me at home, I have always got some guatemaltecos here waiting for me :)

Well out bishops phone wasnt working and we had to get the chapel keys to go fill up the font. He tried sending us 50 messages but because he didnt have credit, we couldnt read any of them. so everyone was a bit frusturated. but we got the font filled and then it was time for the baptism, except everyone who had talks or a role in the baptism, whom i called and confirmed the night before, didnt show up.... so our bishop was a little mad and pulled us into his office after to have a little chat with us. haha but in the end, all was well, Cristian was baptized and he and his non member family really enjoyed the ceremony. Thats what really matters right?

That night after the baptism we also helped  a member with their wedding reception. It was super fun and i absolutely love doing service!

This week we also had the ward christmas activity which was  super fun. They asked us hermanas to do something, and  since the other hermanas lost their phone it was a little hard to prepare something ahead of time. so we sang, and since latinas here are a little tone deaf, it was interesting haha but the good thing is that no one was listening. But i really feel like my dreams of becoming hannah montana are finally coming true!

Well everyone, thank you for all of the warm christmas wishes. I love you all and hope that you all have  an amazing week. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I hope you all stay warm and safe this holiday season and remember the true reason why we have christmas. christmas.mormon.org I love you all

Con amor,

Week 25- 6 Months!

Buenas Tardes!

Wow what a week it has been! Something exciting that happened is that we were taking a bus to get to our next appointment and we had to stop because there were two drunk guys in the middle of the road. One was passed out and then the other tried to help him up but stumbled to the ground and then they were both passed out. The the wives and daughters had to drag them off of the road. It was quite the scene but leave it to the women to be responsible and get stuff done ;)

This week was Hermana Hamblin´s last week so we had the opportunity to go to the temple. It was absolutely amazing! There really is so better place to be in the world. I wish I could go to the temple all of the time because that is where i find the most peace! It was amazing. We also said bye to hermana hamblin this morning which was super hard, but that's the mission!

This week Hermana Rodriguez and I got to take a little break and go to Guatemala City to do her visa papers. So we left Thursday night and stayed the night in a hotel in guate which was pretty fun. Then we did her papers Friday morning and got back to Xela at 8 that night. It was a long two days but it was fun. Our hotel had a bath tub!!!! But sadly i didn't use it :( But there also was an iguana so that was cool!

Well, this week i hit my 6 month mark! Wow time has gone by pretty fast. It´s really cool to see how much I have changed and learned in such a short time! Honestly I have really learned what it means to be grateful for all that I have been given. Living here in Guatemala is so different from home. I have been very blessed to have been serving in a big city but still things are so different. I´m grateful for the country that I have grown up in. A country where women are treated respectfully and equally, Where kids grow up knowing who their parents are and aren't abandoned at birth, and a country where we can actually put the toilet paper in the toilet when we flush! haha  Maybe the last one isn't as important, but you don't really know how much of a luxury it is to flush toilet paper. But I am really grateful for the country that i have been raised in, for being taught by loving and amazing parents the importance of families and standards, and for the amazing examples of friends at home. In these last 6 months I have grown a lot and have learned a lot about what it means to truly become a good and Christlike person. It´s something that I am striving to learn more about and I am excited to see where these next 12 months take me.

Thank you for all of your love and support back home and I hope that all of you have the most wonderful Christmas season and are able to experience many Christmas miracles.

Love, Hermana Gibson

Week 24

Hello Everyone!

This week had its ups and downs but overall is was a pretty great week! We contacted 102 people this week! It was super crazy, but now im a litle over contacting haha but we still have work to do! So the church (because it is super awesome) is working with the missionaries all around the world to share the video "He is the Gift." If you havent seen it yet, SEE IT. It is so beautiful and powerful and really helps us remember the true meaning that we have Christmas. So we have arounf 250 pass a long cards with the link on them to share with people. And i absolutely love it because people are more willing to listen when we want to share a christmas video with them. We even have met people tell us they were going to share the video with their friends. So i encourage all of you to do the same! Its amazing!

Well, today we went to Parque Central were we were able to buy a ton of souviners so that was super fun. Usually we dont have permission but since Hermana Hamblin is going home we got apecial permission! So we bought a lot of great stuff (Nana, you would be proud!)

Also this week we didnt have lunch and we were misison home a little bit so we tried our best to make Cafe rio salads! Also if any of you have easy recipie ideas that we can make with only an electric portable stove and a microwave, they would be much appreciated!

Thereis a dad and his 10 year old son here (Swayne and Lance) from Utah and they are staying here for a little while. WE met them in church and they took us our to breakfast this morning so that was super fun and breakfast was delicious!!!

Sorry that i dont have much to write, im pretty rushed on time today. Oh in the pictures we found some cool slides in our area!

Anyway have a great week! love you all
